Kilimanjaro Shira Plateau Day Hike – Moshi

Your day begins with a morning pickup in Moshi by our professional English-speaking mountain guide.
Enjoy a scenic drive through the forest reserve of West Kilimanjaro, keeping an eye out for Colobus and blue monkeys swinging through the canopy.

Upon arrival at the Londorossi Gate, begin your hike at 3,500 meters above sea level, walking along trails surrounded by rugged volcanic terrain and high-altitude flora.
When the weather is clear, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Kibo’s glaciers and the vast Simba River Gorge below.

The hike continues across the plateau towards the northern rim of the Shira Crater, with stops at several panoramic viewpoints where volcanic cones rise from the open plains.

Around midday, relax and enjoy a picnic lunch under the African sky, soaking in the serenity of this high-altitude wilderness.
After approximately 4 hours of moderate hiking, return to the trailhead where your vehicle awaits for the scenic drive back to Moshi.
