Mount Kilimanjaro Trek – Lemosho Route (8 Days)

Today is an arrival day. If you choose to fly into Kilimanjaro Airport, we recommend a private transfer to Arusha/Moshi, where the rest of the day is at leisure. This afternoon at 16:30, you will meet the rest of the group and your guide for a trip briefing.

Arrive at Londorossi Gate for registration before starting the trek through lush rainforest. Look out for monkeys and exotic birdlife as you ascend to camp.

• Overnight: Mti Mkubwa Camp

Climb out of the forest into moorland with sweeping views. The trail leads onto the Shira Plateau, one of Kilimanjaro’s most scenic areas.

• Trek time: 6–7 hours
• Overnight: Shira 1 Camp

A shorter acclimatization trek across the Shira Plateau, with time to enjoy dramatic landscapes and volcanic formations.

• Trek time: 4–5 hours
• Overnight: Shira 2 Camp

Climb steadily to Lava Tower for acclimatization before descending into the lush Barranco Valley. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy boosts success rates.

• Overnight: Barranco Camp

Begin with the exhilarating climb up Barranco Wall, followed by a scenic traverse through ridges and valleys before reaching Karanga Camp.

• Overnight: Karanga Camp

A shorter but steeper climb leads to Barafu Camp, the base camp for summit night. Rest early, as the summit push begins after midnight.

Start the summit push at midnight, climbing past Stella Point to reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise—the highest point in Africa. After celebrations, descend through scree and moorland to Mweka Camp.

• Overnight: Mweka Camp

Descend through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. Collect your summit certificate before transferring back to your hotel for a well-earned rest.
